Chronic Ambient Poisoning and its Preventive Cure
Medical Phenomenology: Chronic Ambient Poisoning is a novel length case study of Alderman Syndrome (Chronic Ambient Poisoning) that models the use of N of 1 case study for detecting, mitigating, and eliminating personal health hazards.
Medical Phenomenology: Chronic Ambient Poisoning
One day in December of 1996, the author (a physician, medical detective, and academic epidemiologist) developed disabling brain fog following on a decade-long descent into a painful, pervasive, and unprecedented chronic illness. Having done population-based studies to research the causes of birth defects, and having thus encountered the limitations of modern methods, she had inadvertently prepared to investigate the causes of her illness—which was given the provisional and uninformative label of “chronic fatigue.”
After a fifteen-year search, the author found a doctor whose elimination diet relieved her brain fog. This enabled her to complete her self-study and to construct an actionable new diagnosis: chronic ambient poisoning. Unseen by doctors and obscured by a myriad of false diagnoses, chronic ambient poisoning defies late modern, fragmented, accuracy-challenged medical systems. It also reveals that human-caused habitat injuries that afflict birds, bees, and other species are also affecting humans while driving evolved life toward death as asteroid strikes have done in the past. To ignore this diagnosis is to ignore the dangers to all lives posed by modern ways of living.
Medical Eldering for Physicians
Medical Eldering is a self-guided monthly course in four seasons that employed doctors can use to transition to wise elderhood and mentoring after completion of your adult employment. These seasons include:
- A Summer Breather
- A Fall for Reflection
- A Winter to Reclaim Your Personal Narrative
- A Spring for Revolutionizing Your Lifetime Learning
Medical Eldering for Physicians: A Year to Envision your Living Legacy
After employment in a modern medical system, you can use this course as a basis for adopting a sustainable paradigm to develop with peers, and to use when mentoring younger colleagues who are entering a time of wrenching psychosocial change, and to whom it falls to sustain the profession as it counters the human-caused Sixth Extinction. That threat to evolved life on earth represents a unique crucible for transforming the profession within its human and biome contexts. Following the vision of caring for and curing humans with the body of life that gives us—and all beings—life is to embark on caring for all lives as one. That is, the living future calls you to care for each and all of the lives that comprise the One Life in evolutionary time.
Hippocratic medicine, which is essential for restoration of a living future, has changed with every epoch since ancient natural historians began to study life. The epoch that is upon us is already entering an exciting post-post-modern metamorphosis into what is sometimes called the living paradigm. Having just taken medicine into its slipstream, this new paradigm awaits your creativity, leadership, and boundary-crossing syncresis of formerly disparate areas of thought. Such efforts can speed the formation of a human ethos able to restore life on earth, avert hazards to evolution, and sustain your species—including your descendants—into a thriving future.

The Chronic Illness Owner’s Manual
This two volume series is for patients with chronic illness, and for the people who care for them. Suitable for individual or small group use, it offers a comprehensive, systematic, step-by-step approach to engaging modern systems of care and cure of the flesh, and to healing from the inside out.
The books comprise anecdotes, exercises and quotes that address healing of seven aspects of the body: awareness, understanding, perceptions, sensations, energy, flesh and interbeing. The frames, constructs, patterns and processes employed by the series are drawn from traditions of medicine, field biology, theology and psychology from around the globe. Their synthesis offers an emerging, sustainable, biocentric, contextual and customizable approach to creating a new and better life that continues to evolve in keeping with your unique meaning, purpose, and vision of abundant life.
The Chronic Illness Owner’s Manual series complements care and cure courses available online through our partner at EvolveMedicine.us.
Evolve Fertility Fiction Series
In the Evolve Fertility Series, we follow a group of college friends through their lives and into the next generation. The story begins in the 1970s and continues to the year 2020, and tracks the decline of the modern era and the emergence of the next. As the health of the human species and all species declines due to humanity’s galloping consumption of the body of life, the friends find their way forward and lead the grassroots transformation that may enable the survival of evolved life. Along the way, they give birth to babies, brainchildren, spirit children, and art while embarking on epochal change.
This series is designed to empower the reader with ideas and methods that can be used to better identify and address our present problems and to craft local grassroots solutions that will enable life on earth to survive modernity.
Book 1: Melissa’s Match - Great Society
It’s the early 1970s. Melissa and her friends begin their first year of college in the inner city of Chicago at a time when post-assassination riots, Great Society scholarship programs, and veterans returning from Vietnam create a sometimes explosive confluence of urban and rural, rich and poor, white and black, educated and uneducated. Coming of age in a violent, unjust, and yet hopeful time, they struggle to reconcile their hopes and opportunities with the shadows of war and the destructive clashes of senescing and emerging.
Book 2: Connie’s Conception - Awareness of Peril
It’s the late 1980s, and Connie Martin, a doctor working for the Epidemiology Intelligence Service of the CDC, is called to Colorado to investigate an alarming outbreak of birth defects. Born illegitimate in the San Luis Valley as Consuela Martín, a name known only to close friends and to her beloved gamer and programmer husband, she arrives as an unknown. Joined by environmental activists who suspect the state’s Superfund sites and by doctors and parents who fear for its children, Connie attempts to discover the link between habitat destruction and damage to innocents.
Book 3: Melissa’s Malady - End of Modernity
It is almost the year of the millennium, and Melissa meets her college friends Sarah and Doug and her first and only true love John for a reunion in Hyde Park. All four are in the midst of their careers. All struggle with the compromises that have marred their happiness. All wish to change the world, each in a different way. Sarah has left her government job for a new life as a yoga teacher. Doug is helping to birth a new value-based economy. John is a successful academic doctor. Melissa is ailing. They unite to turn John’s success as a researcher to the cure of Melissa’s mysterious chronic illness. What they find will change their lives and their imperiled world.
Book 4: Colette’s Creativity - Sacred and Profane
Colette, Melissa’s childhood friend, abandons her marriage and home in Maine and flies to Melbourne. There she is taken in by her friend Reggie, who seems to know the secret of joy. Colette joins in the lives of striking individuals who lead her to view sexuality as a manifestation of the sacred. As she leaves behind the wounds caused by profane sexuality, she and her new friends clash with members of Reggie’s family who force them to flee and to begin again.
Book 5: Colette’s Community - Thirds
Soon after Colette and her friends find a new home, an old boyfriend of Melissa’s who is sojourning in Australia calls and expresses his desire to visit. Colette plans to use the visit as a chance to develop a job for herself; he plans to check up on Colette for Melissa. As they get to know each other, they see that despite differences in religion, origin, and experience, they are on very similar spiritual paths. When it is time for Randall to go home, Colette joins him in Chicago. When he becomes caught up in his old life, however, she returns to Australia to pursue her dream of giving birth to a sacred community.
The Evolve Restoration Speculative Ecofiction Series
In the Evolve Restoration Series, we extend the saga of the Evolve Fertility Series through the years 2050 to 2082. This series tracks members of the Saltspring Island Research Center Kindred as they navigate the unpredictable currents of change that will lead toward the restoration or extinction of evolved life. As they attempt to restore a living future, they choose and sometimes lose consortships, families, and kindreds. Through global expansion, contraction, and dispersal of the dynamic corps of cross-species restorationists, Aaron, his niece Rafaela, his consort Parvati, and her daughter Jacki circumvent or transform a series of obstacles, and so help to diminish the human time debt to the body of life. As they prevail, the decentralized yet tightly-knit and widely networked corps finds reasons to believe that the tide of restoration will rise above the forces of extinction.
Book 1: Pilgrim Minds - After the War on Life
It is 2050, and Melissa has gone to the hospice of her clinic to die in peace. Her son Aaron visits and she trusts him with her last wish: He is to go from their home in Iowa to the Salish Sea to ask her old friend Sarah for a legacy. Before she can explain, Melissa dies. Disturbed by the turn of events, Aaron rides out on horseback, taking a pilgrimage through a damaged landscape. In Denver, he meets the wife of his estranged brother, and agrees to take his niece Rafaela away from dangerous company. As they head west and get to know each other, Aaron becomes her surrogate father, and Rafaela becomes the daughter he never had.
Book 2: Aaron’s Legacy - The Body of Life
When Aaron and Rafaela have settled into the community that was founded by his mother’s friends, and based in part on her medical philosophy, they find purpose, meaning, and consorts. Rafaela pursues the initiation into adulthood and lifework that she had delayed in Denver, and Aaron brings his mother’s embodied wisdom to the community. With the aid of his consort, and through obstacles such as his unfamiliarity with the community and the consequences of travel through an unmarked poisoned barren, Aaron forms a legacy that will sustain the community when Sarah is gone.
Book 3: Rafa's Clinics - Circuits and Changes
It is 2070. Rafa is captaining a boat that takes her on a biennial circuit of habitat restoration clinics, Dirk is trekking through the far north, and Parvati and Bjorn are attempting to restore lifeless areas in Australia. To their shock, word comes that SIRC has closed. When they reunite in Sweden and explore opportunities to collaborate with distant relatives, Rafa and Dirk become consorts; Dirk and Bjorn return to SIRC, and Parvati takes a new consort and forms a family. When evidence of sabotage at SIRC is uncovered, the community of doctors who traveled to Sweden returns to SIRC with Rafa and Parvati to discern the best course of action. There, Parvati sets a course that revives the SIRC corps of restorationists.
Book 4: Rafa and Dirk - Logistics and Being
It is 2080, and conflicts with the new bioregional central government come to a head as officials attempt to impose old health and safety regulations on SIRC, which has long since moved on. Faced with an ethical dilemma between love of their bioregion and the need to act independently and conscientiously, the core of the community relocates to Sweden. There, they form a new plan for a network of restoration clinics in the North Sea and Baltic bioregions. After a period of dislocation, the various elements of SIRC settle, and Jacki comes of age as a woman a restorer while her elders define their legacies.
Book 5: Jacki’s Lines - Black, White, and Green
It is 2082 and Jacki and Mirek have earned the respect and support of the leaders of the merging networks of clinics, monasteries, and green schools. Their initiations prepared them to travel to Australia to reconcile humanity’s debt to the people of the temporate rainforest. They will redeem the “black line” which removed all aboriginals from the island with a green line designed to remove all sources of habitat destruction. Restorers from around the world gather to reconcile that debt and engage the whole island in co-creating a living future for all who love and care for its habitats.
